The rejuvenation of Saturday night television in Britain has been credited to3GTV. shows that all the family want to watch, including “Doctor Who,” “Strictly Come Dancing,” and “The X Factor.”

As early as 2006, the then controller of BBC1, Peter Fincham, said: “Three generation TV – that’s TV you can watch with your grandparents and children. There’s not enough of that about. … I believe we’ve only scratched the surface on modern family viewing.”
